Hi there! Have you ever, or has this girl ever heard of the phrase 'Is your glass half-empty or half-full?'

There is nothing wrong with being practical in the outcomes of situations as long as the individual practices the art of imagining both.

Then the challenge is to weigh one against the other and do the really hard part... 'Make an appropriate or well-thought out choice.';

For a ten year old that is a very hard thing to do. That is why we begin practicing this when the choices are not those which would be 'life-threatening' or 'very hurtful to oneself or others' - at least that is the hopeful scenerio.

Life is made up of choices, what color shirt to wear or be kind to someone. Walk past a piece of trash or pick it up and get the feeling of being a helpful human being.

I think... because I am not a therapist or have a degree in this sort of thing I will say 'think'. The best advice I would like to offer is this:

1. Remember the 'Golden Rule': Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You.

2. Think about all of the most important things in life we learn in kindergarten - i.e. Say Please, Say Thank-You, Flush, Be Kind, Share, Keeps Your Hands To Yourself, Cover Your Mouth When You Cough, and so on and so on.

In the enormous amount of life that I have experienced in the 41 years I have been on earth I have heard, disbelieved in, and then had the great joy of the belief that 'What Comes Around Goes Around'. All of these 'cliches' or 'sayings' are so much more true than one would believe at first.

Even if at the time it seems like only the worst can happen, there is always a choice to be made. Practice, practice, and practice making good choices and only good awaits you.

But this is just my thinking, hopefully if more people believe in the good of themselves and others than life will begin to be a much more enjoyable experience and this sometimes very ugly world we live in could begin to be more beautiful.

Very, very, sincerely,

Trixxi
ummmm... she's ten. It sounds normal to me. It'll pass.
I do the same thing, i always think the worst and when it goes to custard its no big deal lol. I find it hard to think positive as I'm not a lucky person, so I wouldn't worry to much about it there's many people feel the same way.
